Earth

The air is rife with

Electric impulses

Instead of the hum

Of the spinning Earth

The hum of electricity

Of power and progress

Nature again attempts control

Makes us predict

Milder weather

And concocts blizzards and storms

Across seas the people

Are crushed between

Moving slabs of earth

As she tries to expose her lungs to air

Fragments of geography

Papers from last year’s tests

Held together by

Unyielding lengths of tarmac

Ribbon would round and round.
